Mazzei has a passion for building engagement and retention programs and enjoys working with employees and leaders across the health system.

Mazzei has been working in human resources for over eight years. She has been with WVU Medicine for four years, where she has held multiple roles, including recruitment and retention specialist, senior HR generalist and now HR business partner.

Prior to joining WVU Medicine, Wendy was employed at Fairmont Regional Medical Center, where she specialized in recruitment, retention, onboarding, union relations and benefits.

During her career, Mazzei has provided expertise in the areas of consulting, recruitment, retention, engagement, onboarding and succession planning.

Wendy obtained her bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Administration from Fairmont State University. She is a certified employee retention professional and most recently obtained her strategic HR business partner certification.

When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and watching Christopher play baseball.

Black Steel Pipe For Handrail

Most memorable movie line: “It’s supposed to be hard. If it wasn’t hard, everyone would do it. The hard ... is what makes it great.” — Jimmy Dugan, “A League of Their Own.”

What inspires you? I am inspired by all the people around me. Everyone is so different and so amazing in their own way. I truly like to take that all in and strive to be the best version of myself that I can be. I know that I am blessed and I do everything I can to give back and lend a hand or share a smile to anyone in need. If someone is having a bad day or looking down, I do everything I can to make them smile. I make it a point. One smile can truly change someone’s day.
